Advanced laser hair removal with Clarity II by Cynosure Lutronic

Laser hair removal is one of the most effective methods for achieving long-term reduction of unwanted hair. At Dermique, we use Clarity II by Cynosure Lutronic — an advanced dual-wavelength laser platform designed for fast, precise and comfortable treatments across a broad range of skin types and treatment areas, for both women and men.

Why Clarity II by Cynosure Lutronic?
Why Clarity II by Cynosure Lutronic?

Clarity II combines two of the most established wavelengths used in laser hair removal — Alexandrite 755 nm and Nd 1064 nm. This dual-wavelength technology allows treatment parameters to be tailored according to skin phototype, treatment area and hair characteristics.

The Alexandrite wavelength is particularly effective for darker hair on lighter skin types, while the Nd wavelength allows appropriate treatment of a broader range of skin phototypes, including darker skin.

Integrated cryogen cooling helps protect the skin and improve comfort during treatment, while the platform’s large spot sizes and high repetition rate allow both small and larger areas to be treated efficiently.

What to expect during your laser hair removal treatment

Before treatment, the skin, treatment area and hair characteristics are assessed. Laser settings are then selected individually according to skin phototype, hair colour and density, treatment area and previous response.

During treatment, Clarity II delivers precisely controlled laser energy to the targeted hair follicles, while integrated cooling helps reduce heat sensation and improve comfort.

Temporary redness, warmth or sensitivity may occur afterwards and usually subsides within a short period. Appropriate sun protection is recommended, and excessive heat, tanning and intense sun exposure should be avoided according to the aftercare instructions provided by your specialist.

Frequently asked questions
Should I shave before laser hair removal?
Yes. The treatment area should be closely shaved before your appointment, ideally the evening before or within approximately 24 hours of treatment.

Hair should not extend significantly above the surface of the skin, as the aim is for the laser energy to target pigment within the hair follicle beneath the skin rather than the visible hair shaft.

Waxing, epilating, tweezing or other methods that remove hair from the root should be avoided for several weeks before treatment, as an intact hair follicle is required for effective laser targeting. Between laser sessions, shaving is the preferred method of hair removal.

On the day of treatment, the area should be clean and dry, without creams, oils, deodorant, make-up or other topical products unless otherwise advised.
Treatment intervals depend on the area, hair growth cycle, hormonal influences and individual response. As a general guide, intervals may be:

Face — every 4–6 weeks
Underarms — every 4–6 weeks
Bikini area — every 4–6 weeks
Arms — every 6–8 weeks
Legs — every 6–8 weeks
Back and shoulders — every 6–8 weeks
Chest and abdomen — every 6–8 weeks
Buttocks — every 6–8 weeks
Neck and beard line — every 4–6 weeks

These intervals are indicative and may be adjusted as hair growth becomes slower and sparser throughout the treatment course.
Hair grows in different phases, and laser treatment is most effective during the active growth phase, when the hair follicle contains sufficient pigment to absorb the laser energy.

Because not all hairs are in the same growth phase at the same time, a series of treatments is required. Many patients undergo approximately 6–8 sessions as an initial course, although the number varies depending on the treatment area, hair colour and density, skin phototype, hormonal factors and individual response.

Maintenance sessions may be recommended over time to help preserve the result.
Clarity II features an integrated cooling system designed to protect the skin and improve comfort during treatment.

The sensation varies depending on the treatment area, hair density, laser settings and individual sensitivity. Most patients experience brief sensations of heat or a light snapping feeling, which are generally well tolerated.
Clarity II combines Alexandrite and Nd wavelengths, allowing the treatment approach to be adapted to different skin phototypes. The 1064 nm Nd wavelength is particularly valuable when treating darker skin types because of its lower absorption by epidermal melanin compared with shorter wavelengths.

Suitability and treatment parameters are always determined individually following assessment of the skin.
Direct sun exposure and sunbeds should be avoided following laser hair removal, as recently treated skin may be more sensitive and UV exposure can increase the risk of irritation and pigmentary changes.

The recommended period of sun avoidance depends on the treatment area, skin type, laser parameters and individual response. For exposed areas, consistent use of broad-spectrum, high-SPF sun protection is important.

If you are planning a beach holiday, significant sun exposure or tanning, let your specialist know in advance so that your treatment schedule can be adjusted appropriately.
Yes, laser hair removal may be possible during the summer, provided the skin is appropriately assessed and strict sun precautions are followed.

Treatment should generally be avoided on actively tanned or sunburned skin and may need to be postponed following significant recent sun exposure. Planned holidays and periods of intensive sun exposure should be discussed with your specialist when scheduling treatment.
Laser hair removal may need to be postponed or may not be appropriate in the presence of active tanning or sunburn, active infection or certain skin conditions in the treatment area, or when taking medications that may increase photosensitivity.

Pregnancy, medications, recent sun exposure and relevant medical or skin conditions should be discussed before treatment. Suitability is determined following individual assessment.

Atrophic scars

Atrophic scars are indented scars that most commonly appear following acne or other inflammatory conditions. They are caused by a loss of collagen and uneven skin regeneration.

Appropriate treatment methods

At Dermique, we don’t treat acne scars using just one technique. Where necessary, we combine:
